How Your Piece Comes to Life

ais2.png.jpg

Every order at JM ShedWorks LLC follows a clear, hands-on process—from your first message to the moment your finished piece arrives. I’ll gather your details (or point you to a standard design), create a proof for approval, and then build with the right mix of laser cutting, CNC machining, 3D printing, and woodworking. Before we start, I’ll confirm materials and finishes, keep you posted on timelines, run a quality check, and package everything for safe pickup or shipping. The steps below spell out exactly what happens at each stage, so you always know where your project stands

Design & CAD Modeling

The project begins with transforming your idea into a precise digital design. Using CAD software, I create a detailed blueprint that defines every cut, engraving, and layer of your piece. To ensure the highest quality, it’s important to provide clear, high-resolution images or vector files for unit insignias, logos, or artwork — the better the source, the sharper and more professional the final result

  • High-quality images or vector files ensure the best possible detail.

  • Digital proofs are provided for approval before production.

Material Selection

The right material sets the foundation for a beautiful, lasting piece. Based on your project and budget, you can choose options like:

  • Walnut for rich contrast and elegance

  • Maple for sharp engravings and light tones

  • Cherry for a warm, reddish-brown finish with a smooth, consistent tone

  • Painted birch ply for full color patches

  • 3D Printing for budget friendly color pops

Laser Cutting, Engraving & 3D Printing

Using a high-precision laser, I can cut individual layers and engrave intricate details like insignias, text, and patterns. When selected, 3D printed parts are used for logos, seals and accent pieces

  • Laser cutting produces clean, accurate edges for perfectly aligned layers and components.

  • Laser engraving adds crisp, detailed personalization like names, ranks, insignias, logos, and text.

  • 3D printing creates vibrant, durable color accents and dimensional elements for logos, patches, or emblems.

Hardware & Assembly

Each piece is carefully assembled by hand, with every layer precisely aligned for a seamless, professional finish. Premium hardware — like brass standoffs and polished accents — adds depth and dimension to the design, with optional wall-hanging hardware available for a clean, display-ready presentation.
